2010 Lakeside SC (Ferry Meadows) SigneT Open Meeting Results |

Eight boats turned out for the last open meeting of the series. There was a good breeze, a bit gusty, but nothing too extreme. All boats made it onto the water for the first race which was closely fought between Richard Cannon, Lizzy Davies, Steve Whiteside, Will Davies and John Pratt. Sammie Mitchell and Matt Cadman provided the entertainment when Sammie "dived" out of the boat on the gybe mark and had to swim at speed before being reunited with her boat and crew. A lovely black eye was her reward for such endeavour. Richard finsihed ahead, Steve second.
The second race was back to back with the first. Sammie again joined in, though was late for the start due to the quick turn around. The race this time was more processional with Lizzy pulling out a lead from Richard and Steve. This time Sammie swam around the corner, foiling spectator amusement, though Matt did learn to dry capsize.
In the final race, delayed so that we could enjoy a good lunch, the three leaders were constantly challenging for the lead and it looked like they were going to make the results tricky when heading at the last mark for a first, second and third each. Unfortunately at this point Steve lost his rudder handing the lead and the Open Meeting to Lizzy for the second year in succession. Richard finished in second place.
